The Force is indeed strong with many as made evident with the overwhelming enthusiasm for the return of Han Solo, Luke, Leia, and the rest of the new cast that’ll tell the new tales of “Star Wars”. Amid all that enthusiasm, there has certainly been a desire to see all that’s going into filming the first movie of the new trilogy. With everything under a closely guarded secret, the only way you could step on set and know the story is with approval of the director J.J. Abrams.
And it was today that Abrams himself decided (or the Force who influenced him) to allow one very fortunate individual and a guest to not only learn more about the film, but also step on the set and be filmed for a scene for “Star Wars: Episode VII“!
Take a look at the video above that he made announcing the opportunity directly from the Episode 7 set in Abu Dhabi.
Starting today, Disney and Lucasfilm, along with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will be hosting the first “Star Wars: Force for Change” campaign that will raise funds for UNICEF and awareness of the vulnerable children that benefit from it every day. Disney has already pledged $1 million to campaign and has invited the general public to donate which will also enter them into a drawing to win the grand prize of that cameo role, as well as meet-and-greets with the cast.
“Star Wars fans are some of the most passionate and committed folks around the globe,” says director J.J. Abrams. “We’re thrilled to offer a chance to come behind the scenes as our VIP guests and be in Star Wars: Episode VII. We’re even more excited that by participating in this campaign, Star Wars fans will be helping children around the world through our collaboration with UNICEF Innovation Labs and projects.”
For each $10 contribution made through the online fundraising platform Omaze, an entry will automatically be created for the chance to win. The campaign runs until 11:59 PST on July 18, 2014.
