Are You A Disney Citizen Kid?
“Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children.”
– Walt Disney
I wasn’t a normal kid growing up because I did a lot of things most kids my age didn’t do. In addition to all my “unusual” trips to Disneyland and endless voyages on ‘it’s a small world’, I created my own fantasy resort hotel, studied how The Walt Disney Company worked, and even took the initiative of joining it by writing a letter to the CEO of Disney at the time (who also replied). I didn’t really have an agenda in doing this all at a young age, but it wasn’t until I was older that I found a way to have it all really benefit people through DisneyExaminer and other opportunities.
The fact of the matter is that many kids out there are growing up the same way! Perhaps you know or you are one of those kids who’s reading this right now and are doing things that are out of the “norm”.
Let me be the first to tell you that it’s OK! What you’re doing now will really benefit you and others in the future. Walt Disney himself was one such person and look what he created. And now, the Company he started is taking the time to celebrate us dreamers, but also doers!
Disney Interactive just launched a new web series that highlights real kids who are doing extraordinary things today. “Citizen Kid” is a 18-episode web series that will tell the stories of these kids and hopefully encourage kids like them to continue to do what they’re doing. Disney also hopes that it’ll inspire the new generation to do great things. Take a look at one of the episodes above.
As you can see with Sam’s story, his “If you dream it, you can do it” mentality has really made a positive impact in his life and for those around him. With things like “Citizen Kid” and notable supporters like Disney encouraging greatness, I won’t be surprised if we see the next person like Walt Disney come from this generation!
