In early January, several beloved attractions at the Disneyland Resort closed for both renovations as well as to begin construction for the highly anticipated Star Wars-themed land.
For many Disney enthusiasts, the week leading to the closures was a bittersweet time. For me, experiencing them with the knowledge that they won’t be here, both temporarily and permanently, made me reflect and appreciate these attractions more. Here are some of these attractions’ final moments before the January 11th closure.
Mark Twain Riverboat
Cruise the exciting Rivers of America aboard an authentic, steam-powered sternwheeler!
Meeting Princess Tiana aboard the Mark Twain
In the South Land there’s a city
Way down on the river
Where the women are very pretty
And all the men deliver
They got music
It’s always playin’
Start in the day time, go all through the night
There it is ladies and gentlemen, the backside of water!
Sailing Ship Columbia
Your attention please. The Disneyland limited is now leaving for a grand circle tour of the Magic Kingdom. With stops at New Orleans Square, Mickey’s ToonTown and Tomorrowland. All passengers AWAY!”
Disney’s Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular
Ahhhh, salaam and good evening, weary travelers. Headed towards Agrabah, are we? Well, let me help you pass the time with a tale. The desert night hides a thousand stories! Ah, the Cave of Wonders. The setting of one of our most famous legends. The tale of the magic lamp.
