After months of waiting we’ve finally got our very first look at the new Tangled T.V. show – titled, for now, Tangled The Series. We know that the show will take place between the original film and the short Tangled Ever After, telling us more about how Rapunzel adapts to life as the princess of Corona.
Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi are back to voice Rapunzel and Eugene and will be joined by animal friends Maxiums and Pascal. Other big stars will also join the cast: Ashley Judd and Clancy Brown will finally be giving voices to Queen Arianna and King Frederic. The show will also continue the film’s musical legacy with songs by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, who composed and wrote lyrics for the film’s memorable soundtrack.
The trailer features a fun return to 2D, and already gives off the fun, bright vibe that Tangled did as a film. It also, however, brings up a lot of questions: how did Rapunzel adjust to a royal lifestyle? How does her relationship with Eugene change now that they’re both living in the kingdom? Why does she have blonde hair again?
We’re just going to have to wait to have our questions answered, but in the meantime we can look forward to an announcement about the release date: for now we know that Tangled The Series is set to premiere on Disney Channel in 2017.
