Just in time for the holiday season, TOKYOPOP has released a brand new The Nightmare Before Christmas manga edition. Created by Jun Asuka, this manga tells the tale of Jack, Sally, and the citizens of Halloweentown as they put their own spin on the Christmas season.
The manga doesn’t do anything particularly new in terms of story: the plot stays faithful to the original film throughout the manga. The difference that is made possible by this version, however, is that with text and expressive images we’re able to see deeper into the thoughts and emotions of the characters, most notably Sally. While in the film she takes a backseat to Jack’s antics, the manga shows off the complexity of her thoughts, worries, and dreams throughout the story.
TOKYOPOP has also released other editions based off of Disney favorites like Lilo and Stitch and Alice in Wonderland. Also available is a special original manga called Disney Kilala Princess, which tells the story of a young girl whose dreams of meeting Disney Princesses comes true. If you want to see your favorite Disney stories retold in a new, modern way, checkout TOKYOPOP’s available mangas, and catch the The Nightmare Before Christmas manga edition online now!
