Disney’s animated films were pioneering in a variety of ways. Beyond the actual art form, it proved that mere drawings and feature-length films could make people feel.
One such person who clearly felt the emotions of many Disney Animation films is a filmmaker named Alexandre Gasulla. He recently uploaded a 13-minute compilation of the films that he believes are “only the (Disney) animation classics.” More specifically, he chose clips from 49 of 56 films that have been released by the 94-year-old studio, ranging from “Pinocchio,” “Hercules,” and “Frozen.”
In one way, Gasulla proved that there are common narratives of family, identity, and overcoming tribulation in nearly every Disney animated film. But beyond the common plots, Gasulla proved that no matter how familiar, they can reach us deep down in our souls.
