DCA’s Preview…On How To Get Your Money
But we just had to say it because that’s how we felt when we attending the new DCA Preview event earlier last week.
I think we can speak for most Annual Passholders who were notified of the event months earlier that we expected at least a decent preview of the new things to come with the new DCA. Perhaps a more in-depth preview of Radiator Springs Racers? Or maybe even perhaps give us a taste of Ghiradelli Chocolate?
No.
In sports talk, it was an upset.
We didn’t get any of those things. Here’s what we did get –
1) A preview of the saddening Mad T-Party. We’re very skeptical about this one, folks. Why?
This isn’t Disney.
2) What you may buy.
We’ll take your money now. Then get out.
Honestly folks, that’s how we felt when we entered, while we were there, and when we left. It was all very dissatisfying. According to our sources, Disney officials felt the same way too and we’re glad they admitted that. Now it’s just time for them to either advertise such events like this in the future a litte more clearly or make the thousands of Annual Passholders (which this event was created for) who come to the Park quite frequently happy by showcasing something NEW instead of trying to get more money out of us.
Aside from the negative of this event, there were some highlights. To name a few –
3) A preview of some of the Buena Vista Street uniforms. There was also a one shirt preview of the Cars Land uniforms. We’re working to post a picture up of it, but in a few words, it looked like pajamas.
4) A free tasting of the flavored popcorn that will be served at the Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land, as well as the slushy that will be served during the Mad T-Party (which still scares us).
One piece of merchandise that I would have actually bought (but didn’t want to until later when the new Park opens).
And that was it folks. We spent less than 30 minutes in this place and we didn’t like it for the most part. We appreciate the effort Disney put, but they failed to realize that Annual Passholders don’t want stuff to buy, but stuff to see.
We can only hope to see more and more as the officially termed “Grand Re-Opening” of the new DCA opens in a little less than 2 months on June 15!
We’ll end this report on a good note. Keep your engines revving DE!
What did you all think of the event? Did you even go?
