Disney Just Bought Lucasfilm.
Well what did you expect folks? Disney already owns some of the biggest entertainment production companies out there…this was to happen in due time.
The relationship between Disney and George Lucas has already been tight with a lot of Lucasfilm’s…films being used for some imaginative rides that we’ve come to love in the Disney Parks.
Now the fact that we can BELIEVE the fact that Lucasfilm is now a Walt Disney Company…company is still hard to digest! Sure the George Lucas-created company has slowly made its way into the hearts of Sci-Fi nerds and Disney Park-aholics over the years, but is Lucasfilm really the way to go with Disney?
According to Mr. Lucas himself in the official video announcement regarding the acquisition, he thinks the franchise is going to be in good hands as he sets sail into his galaxy far, far away called retirement.
All-in-all, we’re looking forward to what Lucasfilm and the Star Wars (and Indiana Jones) franchise plus all the incredibly talented people of moviemaking including those from Industrial Light and Magic (Industry-famous special FX people) will do together with the great storytellers that make up the culture of The Walt Disney Company.
It seems to be “lightspeed” ahead for that now because Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger also announced that the next trilogy of the ‘Star Wars’ franchise will begin with Episode 7 which will hit theaters in 2015, with Episodes 8 and 9 slated for release a few years afterwards.
Lightspeed, indeed.
