Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. It is our pleasure to introduce to you those who inhabit the land of Oz.

Just like the unique and fanciful atmosphere that Oz already is, you can be sure that the citizens (and enemies) will be just as unique and fanciful. In particular, the pictures that you see above are actually the main characters that you’ll meet in Oz for the newest upcoming Disney full-length motion picture.

For those who don’t know, Disney has made a film that tells tells the origins of the Wizard himself and how and why he came to Oz in the first place. “Oz The Great And Powerful” will still feature the same characters from the original “Wizard of Oz” story, so you’ll feel right at home (in Kansas?) when you watch the new film.

You can get a taste of that in the first trailer, which can be viewed here.

So far as the classic characters go and who will be playing them, be sure to click the photo and read the captions. We’re continuing to learn more about them as we inch closer down the yellow brick road to release date on March 8, 2013.

Be sure to keep it here on DisneyExaminer for the latest on what is sure to be a great film that sows up some loose ends to an already great story.
