“Toy Story” Returns With Terror

We left the theater teary-eyed as Andy drove off to college and Pixar’s “Toy Story” gang left us with smiles and togetherness. And that was it…right?

Wrong. Disney knew that these lovable cast of characters were just too popular and loveable to keep away forever, so we were quite happy to hear that they would be returning not in a new film, but a series of shorts that would be separate from the trilogy’s original story (phew!).

The first in the series of shorts was confirmed earlier this week and it is to be called “Toy Story of Terror.” Executive Producer of the short Galyn Susman revealed a synopsis of the short –

“Bonnie [the new owner of Andy’s toys who we met in TS3] is on a road trip to go see grandma with her mom and the toys are in the trunk when Mom gets a flat tire and they have to spend the night at a motel and all kinds of chaos ensues.”

The “terror” comes when one of the toys goes missing in that motel room and when the rest of the gang must solve some mysterious challenges before they all go “missing” too. Dragging inspiration from horror films like “Psycho” and “Aliens,” the producers did say that they found the right balance of horror for both adults and children.

Susman also revealed that this particluar short will focus more on Jessie and Bonnie’s toys like Mr. Pricklepants and Trixie with the rest of the gang including Woody, Buzz, Mr. Potato Head, and Rex will play supporting roles. Susman said that we’ll see more of their relationships develop as this is the first time the story leaves the realms of the house altogether.

You’ll also be glad to know that the original voice cast for all these characters will be returning for all these shorts including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Don Rickles.

“Toy Story of Terror” is set to debut sometime in October (near Halloween) of this year!

Are you glad that Woody and the gang are back? What sorts of doubts do you have about the new shorts? Will you be watching them? Sound off in the comments!
