Movie Curve Ball: a review of Disney’s “Million Dollar Arm”

We’re very much in baseball season and are about to begin the summer movie season, too! It’s only fitting that Disney’s latest live-action film releases during such a time and deals heavily with both seasons. Disney’s “Million Dollar Arm” has been “pitched” as another sports/baseball film in all the previews and advertising that have been circulating, but is it really all about that?

That has always been the question with sports films, but the ones from Disney, including “The Rookie”, was less about the sport and more about good storytelling, like any good Disney film should. The real-life, impossible tale of sports agent JB Bernstein traveling to India to find the next  U.S. major league baseball stars is the plot, but the things that surround and support the plot might just surprise you!

From our personal chats with the stars to the producers and directors, it was clear that they wanted to create a “feel good” sports movie, but when we saw the film a few weeks ago, that wasn’t all we left with after the ‘ol ball game.
