How The Force Awakens [Star Wars VII Debut Trailer]
“There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?” says the dark, deep voice that opens the first ever trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
In it, we get a first glimpse at the highly anticipated film including new actor John Boyega in a Stortroopers outfit, a soccer ball droid, a redesigned Stormtroopers helmet, a new Lightsaber design, the return of an X-Wing fighter, and the iconic Millennium Falcon played with the iconic John Williams theme song. There were no signs of returning cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, or Mark Hammill.
Still even more thrilling to see is that many of the scenes revealed the production assets that were promised by director J.J. Abrams himself. From building out elaborate sets (instead of CGI) for realism to the grain that is seen (because they filmed it on real film), it all brings back nostalgia that we love from the original saga, yet excites us for what’s to come.
Star Wars: Episode 7 was the result of the fusing of creativity when The Walt Disney Company purchased Lucasfilm back in 2012 for $4 billion. Since then, Lucasfilm stories have slowly found their even more into Disney’s offerings yet this is the pinnacle of it all.
Just a little over a year before we all jump to lightspeed to our nearest theaters and watch the film in its entirety in December 2015!
