10 things to do in line at Disneyland

You cannot escape it. Waiting in line is something that we have all experienced in our lives. From paying at the cash register to getting into a concert stadium, waiting in line is something that you have to do to reap your reward.
This is especially true for any Disneyland goer. Waiting in line is the most dreaded thing to encounter at “The Happiest Place on Earth.” It is something that you will always encounter, and have to endure. To help you cope with this sad notion, here are 10 things you can do while you wait.
1) Eat food/drink
This is a perfect time to gain some sustenance after a long day of walking around the park. You won’t have to worry about finding a seat at a dining area, and it moves along your day so you can ride more rides. With the long wait, you should be fully digested by the time you arrive to the front of the line. Plus, there are trash cans along the lines, so disposing your turkey leg bone will never be an issue.
2) Talk with someone new
Starting a conversation with your buddies in line is the most logical thing to do, but it can get old pretty fast. Especially, if you have been waiting in lines with them for the whole day! Why not spark up a chat with someone else in line? Be sociable and start talking. Here are some conversation starters that you can open up with: “Long line, isn’t it?” “How’s your day going?” “Is it your first time at Disneyland?”
3) Read a book
If you want to keep to yourself, then the reading route is the way to go. Let your mind escape to a whole new world through the power of words. Whether it is on your phone or in print, reading is a great way to take your mind off the wait time.
4) Play “Heads Up! app
Thank goodness for technology (and Ellen DeGeneres)! Playing this game can make the line go so much faster. Charades is always a great crowd pleaser, and time consumer!
5) Hand Games
This may sound old school, but I have played it with a group of friends, and it definitely gets your mind off the long wait time. Hot Hands (aka Slap Jack, Red Hands, Slaps, etc.) is a hand game that everybody knows, and can do walking forward and backward.
6) Disney Trivia
Download a Disney trivia app on your phone, and see if you’re a true Disney fan. Along with exercising physically while walking around the park, you can exercise the most important muscle in your body: the brain. Test your Disney knowledge!
7) Take selfies
Keep the memories alive! This sounds like a very vain thing to do, but let’s be real, we ALL do it. Let your inner Kim Kardashian West take over, and have a photo shoot while waiting in line.
8) Hidden Mickeys
The scavenger hunt for Hidden Mickeys has been an age-old tale. While you wait in line you can search for these little gems, and keep track of how many Mickeys you find. As simple as this sounds, let me just say, it can get very tricky. (Challenge: Try finding the Hidden Mickey in the Indiana Jones ride)
9) Mickey Ears Game
This is when being stealth can help lighten up the mood of waiting in line. All you need is a group of bored friends, and strangers wearing Mickey ears. The game is very simple. While waiting in line with your friends, tap strangers who are wearing Mickey ears. To win, you must not get caught by your Mickey-eared victim. The player who taps the most people without getting caught wins. Show off your ninja skills by playing this game!
10) Bust out in song
Have you ever wanted to be in a Disney musical? Why not do it while waiting in line? Whether it’s a capella, or if you want to turn up the volume on your phone, singing can totally kill the wait time. If you’re lucky, maybe everybody else in line will join you, and then BOOM, you’re in your own High School Musical!
Waiting in line is inevitable, but we all pull through. Try some of these suggestions and see just how fast time will fly by!
Do you know any pass time activities to do while waiting in line? Please comment, and share your ideas!
My friends and I play a game where we both pick a Disney character (for example, Jack Sparrow). Person A would ask person B, “Am I animated?” Person B would say ,”No.” You basically keep asking each other yes or no questions until both people have guessed who the other is. You can pick really obscure characters and the game will go on for ever!
This is phenomenal! At times, the lines and crowds make your visit to the Happiest Place on Earth a little less happy. However, I have found the remedy with this list! Wish I had it during my last visit (and now I know the name of that charades app)!
