The “Dream Big, Princess” campaign makes the Disney Princess new

Last week, Disney launched a new campaign called Dream Big, Princess, which takes inspiration from Disney Princess stories to encourage kids of all ages to “dream big“. This new program marks the age of a new view of Disney Princesses – no longer simply female characters of their films, they are now being presented as strong, smart, capable characters.

The program also takes inspiration from real-life kids who embody this new idea of a Disney Princess. Young children with big dreams, like a 16 year old pilot and a 14 year old rock climber, are now featured on clips played on Disney resort channels.

Dream Big, Princess is planned to span over the course of the next year, with different themes like kindness, friendship, and adventure tied to every month. Disney Channel and Disney Junior will also be hosting “Night of Big Dreams” and “Day of Big Dreams” respectively on February 19 and 26.

Jennifer Lee, director of Frozen, kicks off the campaign with a letter detailing the way Cinderella inspired her to move beyond bullying, and how Anna and Elsa were created with both positive qualities and flaws. She talks about the way Disney Princesses have always inspired audiences, saying, “the idea of Anna and Elsa bringing strength to people the way Cinderella did for me is my dream come true.”

There is also a whole website dedicated to this campaign acting as a sort of new hub for Disney Princess media. On the website you’ll find Disney Princess Bios, blog posts, video clips and more. Fans can also follow the campaign on Instagram @TheDisneyPrincesses.

With Dream Big, Princess Disney Princesses are now transformed into inspirational role models that all children can look up to. From Snow White to Anna and Elsa and every princess in-between, this campaign seeks to inspire all kinds of viewers to dream big.
