Meet Abby Ryder Fortson, Marvel Studios’ youngest star

While all the attention for Marvel’s movies seems to go towards its biggest stars, its smaller and younger stars are also worth recognizing! After all, they were cast into an MCU movie for a reason.

One of those young stars is Abby Ryder Fortson. She plays the daughter of Scott Lang (played by Paul Rudd) in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” and now in “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” While her appearance in the first film was limited to establishing the character and giving Lang purpose, Cassie aka Abby does get more screen time and purpose herself.

We spoke with Abby over the phone a few weeks ago and just hours after her second red carpet walk at the world premiere of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” in Hollywood.

DE: How was going to your second Marvel world premiere?

ARF: It was really fun! I’m used to going to events like that, but it’s always very fun.

DE: So while it seems like you don’t think you’re a big deal, you are the youngest star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! What do you think of that?

ARF: I really don’t mind it. I mean, I never really thought of that before, so I it’s cool!

DE: That’s great! Now you’ve been in two Marvel movies, what’s it like being on a huge set like that?

ARF: It was always different and fun. Paul (Rudd) made every day like that.

DE: So tell us – is Paul Rudd an awesome dad?

ARF: Yes, yes, he is – to his real daughter. For me, he was just a very funny guy. Like a good friend!

(Abby’s mom did say to us that she really appreciated that Paul made sure that she was “protected” and “caring” to Abby while on set, which she the family really appreciated).

DE: So… he won’t be replacing your real dad anytime soon is what you’re saying.

ARF: Yeah.

DE: Got it. So, you can play a daughter. What other talents do you hope to use in future roles?

ARF: Well, I play piano. Maybe I can do that for something soon!
