3 things that the cast and filmmakers of “Incredibles 2” want you to know about the movie
Last week, Disney hosted the global press conference for Pixar’s “Incredibles” 2 in West Hollywood, California. The cast and filmmakers were gathered in front of select press to answer and discuss questions surrounding the sequel film 14 years in the making hero.
Through the 1-hour conference, there was a lot of tidbits of information that they all wanted to get out to the public. So instead of creating a narrative around all that, here’s a straight numbered list of things you should know before you see the movie.
**NO SPOILERS**
1. The sequel doesn’t stray far from the first
“I just thought it was kind of bold and weird,” said writer and director Brad Bird. “But if they age, their superpowers don’t reflect the part of life that they’re in and their role in the family.” He went on to say that family is central to what makes the Parr family “The Incredibles.”
2. The contemporary themes, namely women’s societal roles, in the film were placed coincidentally
Said Holly Hunter (Elastigirl/Mrs. Incredible), “This is not a message movie – we’re not trying to preach anything. It just so happens that our movie is coming out with the surge in the #MeToo movement. I think that’s just so great since people can see that even in our movie.”
3. Kids don’t recognize Samuel L. Jackson as Frozone
“Kids don’t do that! Their parents do,” Jackson said laughingly. “So they understand that part [our voices], but no. We don’t get a new audience because we did a movie that kids really like. They have no idea who we are in our real selves. Or do they?”
“Incredibles 2” hits theaters on Friday, June 15. Read our spoiler-free review of the film HERE.
