3-year-old Claire Ryann Crosby shares a part of her world

She wants to be where the people are…and the people want to be with her. You have all heard the incredible 3-year-old’s recording of The Little Mermaid’s “Part of Your World”. And if you have not yet, please do yourself a favor and get ready to have your heart melted.

Claire Ryann Crosby has become an internet sensation, gaining over 30 million views across YouTube and Facebook. With the voice of an angel, Claire has found growing fame by simply being herself and spreading joy to the world.

DisneyExaminer got a chance to catch up with Claire and her parents, Ashley and Dave, to hear about the inspiration behind the video, thoughts on the success, and upcoming musical plans. This 3-year-old has a big imagination, an open heart, and a thriving future.

First, let’s hear from Claire.

DisneyExaminer: What is your name?

Claire: Claire.

DE: Hello Claire, how old are you?

Claire: I’m three years old.

DE: What is your favorite Disney movie?

Claire: Frozen.

DE: I love Frozen! Who is your favorite Disney princess character?

Claire: Ariel and Anna and Elsa and Sleeping Beauty.

DE: If you were Princess Ariel, who would be your best friend, Sebastian or Flounder?

Claire: Sebastian AND Flounder would be my friends if I was Princess Ariel.

DE: Nice! Would you rather live under the sea or on land?

Claire: I think I might be under the sea.

DE: Do you ever dress up as any of the Disney princesses? What is your favorite costume?

Claire: I love to wear Ariel and Sophia with my Sophia shoes.

DE: From your recent video, we can see you love to sing. What is your favorite song?

Claire: “Let it Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman”.

DE: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Claire: Ariel with a tail. Or I might be a big princess.

DE: Can we expect any upcoming songs to be released? If so, when?

Claire: Yes someday.

DE: Great! Any message you would like to say to your millions of fans around the world?

Claire: Thank you. I better get my thank you list.

Now, let’s talk to Ashley and Dave Crosby, Claire’s parents.

DE: Claire is an amazing young girl. What inspired you all to make the “Part of Your World” video?

Ashley and Dave: Claire first watched The Little Mermaid when she had barely turned two and she immediately was drawn to the “Part of Your World” song. She memorized the words really quickly after we got the soundtrack and she asked to listen to it every time we would get in the car. She’s actually really afraid of Ursula so she doesn’t usually like to watch the movie. She started singing the song all the way through when she was 2.5 so we knew we needed to capture it. Dave has always loved videography and creates videos after trips and big events in our life so this seemed like one we couldn’t miss.

DE: Did Claire have any trouble pronouncing any of the lyrics? She sounded so precise and clear.

Ashley and Dave: She’s been a great talker from an early age. The only line she needed some coaching on was “what’s a fire..” because she was convinced it said “what’s a spider..”

DE: Loved Claire’s princess outfit in the video. Does Claire play dress-up often?

Ashley and Dave: Oh, yes! She loves to dress up and changes her clothes several times a day. Right now she is particularly interested in dress-up shoes and jewelry.

DE: Can you tell us some of Claire’s hobbies and what she is into these days?

Ashley and Dave: She is really imaginative. She is always thinking up a new adventure. She loves to play outside, especially if it’s rainy and she can bring her Elsa umbrella.

DE: In the video, Dave is shown editing and recording Claire. What is his current occupation? Is it related to the industry?

Ashley and Dave: He is a businessman by day, musician by night. He produces music for commercials and spends a lot of time on his own music ventures. He can be found on YouTube under Panic Pilot.

DE: Can we please expect a duet in the future?

Ashley and Dave: We definitely have some duets in the works. They love to sing together.

DE: Did you expect for the video to be such a hit? It has currently reached over 7 million views. How does this make you feel?

Ashley and Dave: It really is unreal to us. Our original intent was to pass the video around our family and small Facebook circles. It’s exciting and overwhelming.  The best part is receiving messages and comments about Claire brightening people’s lives and bringing them happiness when they’ve been down. She has been a light since the day she was born, so it brings us joy to share that with people who need it.

DE: Do you plan to continue recording Claire and releasing videos for our viewing pleasure? I hope so!

Ashley and Dave: She loves recording. Whenever Dave is home she is asking to record something. She loves the one-on-one time that she gets with him. As long as she wants to do it, we will keep recording!
