Beginning this Thursday, the Walt Disney Animation Studios will be hosting their version of a film festival at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre!

The festival will include some of the “modern day” Disney animated classics that have been released since John Lasseter took over as chief creative about 10 years ago. “Big Hero 6”, “Tangled”, and of course “Frozen” will return to the Big Screen and the theatre where they had their premieres.

I had the chance to speak with James Wood, manager of operations and stage production at the El Capitan, to comment on five reasons on why you should attend the festival!

1) Free giveaways

The “Tangled” artwork created by the film’s director Nathan Greno.

“Guests who attend the special 7 PM screenings of each film will receive a collectible piece of artwork created exclusively for each film.”

Moreover, the first 75 people who are in line for that 7 PM screening will have the opportunity to meet with the filmmakers and special guests that will be in attendance.

2) Once-in-a-lifetime meet-and-greets

“We’re so excited to have so many talent people from the films be with us for these special screenings! Make sure you are the first 75 guests in line to meet all of them for this rare opportunity.”

The directors of the films including Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph), Don Hall (Big Hero 6), Chris Williams, Ron Clements, and John Musker (Princess and the Frog) will be there for each of their respective films.

While they’re not scheduled to take part in the special meet-and-greets, voice talent like Mandy Moore (Rapunzel), Ryan Potter (Hiro Hamada), Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh), and some surprise guests will also be there.

3) Premium movie-going experience

“The El Capitan is a ‘movie palace’. There aren’t that many of these around in the world, let alone California. Watching movies here is an experience that marries a royal movie experience and the latest technology.”

When Disney bought and restore the theatre back in 1991, it wanted to revive the magic that was the El Cap’s rarified architecture and ornate detail. The moment you step inside, you’re really transported back in time with modern-day comforts like cushioned seats and digital projection technology.

4) Discounted tickets

“We wanted to make this event accessible to all fans of all ages and budgets.”

There are discounts on different tickets including a great discounted rate on tickets for all the 7 PM special screenings! Visit the El Capitan tickets website or call 1(800) DISNEY-6 for pricing and availability.

5) It’s a fan event

“It’s all about making unique and magical experiences happen for any guest who comes to our theatre. Programming like this festival is a perfect example of how we can do that for guests and more importantly, the fans!”

There’s something about watching some of your favorite movies with others who love the same movies you do. Events like these make the experience so unique and valuable, especially for any Disney fans who attend. Rest assured that many of them will be in attendance so that you don’t have to be afraid to show off your fan-ness as you watch.
