A 21-minute “Frozen” featurette will play in front of Pixar’s “Coco”

The world is going to get more “Frozen” with the announcement of a new featurette featuring the citizens of Arendelle. “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” (teaser trailer above) is a 21-minute short film that will debut in front of Pixar’s “Coco” this November. There’s a lot packed into that sentence, so let’s break it down:

  1. 21 minutes is not really a short film. That’s why they are calling it a featurette.

  2. A featurette means that they can pack a lot of new “Frozen” elements into it, including 4 new songs

  3. It will debut in front of a PIXAR animated feature film. Until now, the studios responsible for creating the feature film would also create the short to play in front of it.

  4. Together with the featurette, the runtime of “Coco” will be about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

“I’m thrilled that Disney Animation’s featurette ‘Olaf’s Frozen Adventure’ will be coming to theaters in November with Pixar’s ‘Coco,’” said John Lasseter, chief creative officer of both Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios. “It’s a perfect pairing – they’re both beautiful, heartfelt films about families and how people carry traditions forward. I can’t wait for audiences to get to see both of these terrific projects together on the big screen.”

According to the release, “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” will only play in front of “Coco” for a limited time without defining on how long that will be. “Coco” and the new “Frozen” featurette will debut on November 22.

If you miss it in theaters, you can bet you’ll see it again on the Blu-ray combo pack!
