Animators: here’s the kind of work you need to do to get hired by Disney

There are many people in this world who’d like to be Disney animators. It’s a dream job to be able to draw under the studio that Walt built and tell stories that generations will remember. It’s not easy task to become one, though.

Disney Animation’s recruitment process is very involved where a lot of their talent begins with current animators reaching out to start the conversation. That’s exactly what happened when Disney animators stumbled upon an animated short created by grad project by two students – Jacob Frey and Markus Kranzler from Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg school in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

It was created in 2014 and two years later plus 59 film awards from around the globe, Frey and Kranzler got that dream opportunity.

According to SFGate, Frey works at Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA and Kranzler at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA.

You’ll quickly see why they ended up at their new jobs after watching their short, “The Present” in the player above. Budding animators who want to follow in their footsteps, be sure to take notes (and wipe tears).
