Bake these scrumptious “Alice in Wonderland” sugar cookies

This semester is practically over! So, what better way to ease into the beginning of summer than baking some delicious sugar cookies? And not just any generic, round sugar cookies with sugar sprinkled on top. Bake these adorable Alice in Wonderland inspired sugar cookies that are really simple to make!

Sugar Cookies Recipe

What I love about sugar cookies are that they are the most simple cookies to make, and you don’t have to buy so many ingredients! I used this very straight-forward sugar cookie recipe for making my sugar cookies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of softened butter

  • 1 ½ cups of sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp. baking powder

  • ½ tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together.

  2. In a second bowl, blend the softened butter and sugar together with a mixer (low speed).

  3. Beat the eggs and vanilla into the butter mixture.

  4. As you blend the mixture together, add the bowl of the flour mixture into the second bowl.

  5. Roll the mixture into a ball in the bowl, cover it with saran wrap, and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  6. Take out cookie dough from the fridge.

  7. Sprinkle a light layer of flour on a surface and roll out your dough (with floured rolling pin) on it.

  8. Use cookie cutters to cut out your shapes.

  9. Put the cookies on a floured tray.

  10. After you cut out all your shapes with the cookie cutters and placed them on the tray, wrap saran wrap over them and place them in the fridge for 15 minutes.

Baking:

  1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

  2. Take out cookies and place them on a non-stick cookie sheet.

  3. Bake for about 10-12 minutes (or until they are golden brown).

  4. After cookies are baked, set them aside to cool down.

Decorations:

  • Royal Icing powder mix

  • Food coloring

  • Water

  1. In a small bowl, mix the Royal Icing powder with water until it has a thick and smooth consistency.

  2. For different colors, add in food coloring.

  3. Have fun decorating!

Finished product:

There you have it! Alice in Wonderland sugar cookies that you can enjoy creating…and munching on.
