Broadway’s Aladdin’s sister was casted as Jasmine for the Australian production

Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway has been playing for a little over two years now to critical acclaim. The Company, lead by star Adam Jacobs who plays Aladdin, has brought new life to the Disney animated classic and now, his sister will help do the same.

It was announced earlier this year that Jacobs’ sister, Arielle, was cast as Jasmine in the Australian production of the musical. The curtain is set to go up on that show in August, which left some time for her to practice and surprise her family of course!

Both Adam and Arielle did just that when they recorded the iconic duet between Aladdin and Jasmine with “A Whole New World” in a video that they’d send to their parents. Her parents had no clue about the casting and had no clue that cameras were recording them to capture the moment with Arielle singing as Jasmine for the first time.

The video above is that moment that swells up to show a grinning mom and a proud dad. And they should be! They have kids who are Disney musical royalty.
