Pooh’s Halloween Pumpkin Honey Butter
By Veronica Thach
A memory I have growing up as a little kid was waking up the next morning after a long night of trick-or-treating disguised as Winnie the Pooh to rediscover all of the candy that was collected. Although I’ve been guilty for sneakily having a piece or two as part of my breakfast, it’s definitely NOT the best choice. Here’s an alternative breakfast recipe that is not only a little healthier, but it’s extremely simple to make with the kids. Get the best of both worlds by combining honey (it’s almost like candy, right?) and pumpkin, perfect for the Halloween/Fall season.
Here’s how you can make Pooh’s Halloween Pumpkin Honey Butter!
Ingredients –
1 stick (8 Tbsp) of unsalted butter, softened
4 teaspoons honey
2 tablespoons pumpkin puree
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
Directions –
Combine all ingredients together with a fork or electric hand mixer.
Store in refrigerator.
Spread on hot toast or bagel. Enjoy!
Hatbox Ghost Trick-or-Treat Bag
By Vannyda Thach
One of my first trick-or-treating experiences was one to remember. I thought I was in for a treat, but the trick was on me. I walked house to house with a Starbucks paper bag in hand. Everything was fun and exciting until I noticed that my bag was getting lighter and lighter. I looked down and into my bag, only to find a hole at the bottom. My aunt quickly fixed it by tying the end of the bag with a hair tie and the fun continued. This memory sparked the idea of creating a trick-or-treat bag that’s not only durable, but crafty and unique. Here’s how you can make your own bag to fill up with treats this Halloween!
Materials –
Plain tote bag
Stencil of your choice
Fabric paint
Foam brush
Double-sided tape
Scissors
Cardboard
Directions –
Print and cut out a stencil of your choice
Align stencil and tape onto the bag
Place a piece of cardboard inside the bag to avoid paint seeping through
Paint carefully over the stencil
Peel off stencil
Remove cardboard immediately and allow bag to dry
BB-8 Pumpkin-Carving
By Alyssa Bautista
As a child, I was anxious the week of Halloween to get my hands on the perfect pumpkin. I would always want to go above and beyond the simple jack-o-lantern pumpkin and attempt to carve my favorite character of that year. Sometimes my expectations were too high for a young kid and I would rely on my father’s artistic lead to help me. Today, traditions continue and I decided to take on my favorite character of 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awaken‘s BB-8. This droid is the best decor for your porch.
Materials-
1 Medium-sized pumpkin
1 Small-sized pumpkin
Pen/Sharpie
Carving set
Grey acrylic paint
Paint brush
Candle
