D23 Expo officials are confident that 2022 in-person event will happen

Disney officials held a virtual presentation and press conference earlier this week to share details about this year’s D23 Expo, signaling that they are confident that the in-person event will still take place despite COVID.

The last biennial Disney fan gathering took place in 2019, with the 2021 event having been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.

While Disney is continuing to plan for the three-day D23 Expo to return this year at the Anaheim Convention Center, they are in constant communication with health officials to ensure the safety of those able to attend in-person (which an official number was not shared). Specific health and safety rules for attendees were also not shared, given that they don’t know what the pandemic will look like in the fall.

What was shared was, however, some of the exhibits, marketing assets, and ticketing information that will make up D23 Expo 2022.

Full details on what was shared can be found on the D23 website. Tickets this year will be only offered to D23 members, both General (free) and Gold members with a pre-sale period for specific groups beginning January 19 and general onsale happening January 20.

Pending the health and safety of our staff, we intend to cover the D23 Expo as we have been for decades, so follow @DisneyExaminer on social media for the latest as we get closer to the Expo weekend in September.
