Disney and Marvel will boycott filming movies in Georgia if Religious Liberty Bill is passed

Georgia’s House and Senate have passed a bill protecting religious liberty. The controversial bill would protect an organization or person’s “sincerely held beliefs” regarding marriage between a man and a woman. Before it passes into law, Disney along with other media companies such as Viacom and AMC have joined together to pressure the state against discrimination.

Georgia has become a hot spot for filming due to the tax incentives provided by the state, making it the 3rd biggest state for production. Marvel is currently filming “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” in Atlanta.

Disney released a statement saying, “Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.’

Governor Deal has not commented on whether he will veto the bill or not.
