Bob Iger’s recent appointment to Donald Trump’s presidential forum shows he might be eyeing a political future after all

Last week, Donald Trump’s presidential transition team announced a new discussion forum called The President’s Strategic and Policy Forum. The 16-person forum will have a familiar face: Bob Iger.

The current chief executive at The Walt Disney Company has accepted an offer to join the forum, citing the “nonpartisan approach” to solving key economic issues and  “the chance to be part of the important discussions” to grow economic opportunity in America.

The news comes after this year’s presidential election, where Iger supported Hillary Clinton in her bid for the White House. While the change in sides is an interesting one, it’s more interesting to see Iger take on his first step toward politics.

Iger, 65, was rumored to enter the political arena after he retires from his job at Disney in June 2018. His business experience, as well as his dealings with international companies and governments where Disney has a presence hasn’t gone unnoticed and many, including he, haven’t ruled out such a “retirement”.

The forum will meet for the first time next February at the White House.
