Disney’s fifth D23 Expo will be held July 14 – 16, 2017

In an unexpected announcement this morning, Disney D23, the official Disney Fan Club, announced their next D23 Expo. The fifth Expo will be held July 14 to 16, 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

While the venue will remain the same, the July weekend is new for attendees as past Expos were held in August. With this date move, Disney’s “ultimate fan experience” might go head-to-head with San Diego Comic-Con, rumored of being held just a week after that. Nevertheless, Disney might be able to take on the convention battle.

It’ll once again be a big year for Disney and organizers for the D23 Expo, who are already deep into planning, have a lot to work with to fill those exhibition halls. “Beauty and the Beast” (live action) will debut that year, as well as Avatar-land at Disney Animal Kingdom Park, just to name a few things.

Some things were already confirmed for the 2017 Expo, including the Disney Legends Ceremony, a Walt Disney Archives exhibit, the popular D23 Mousequerade costume contest, the D23 Expo Emporium for vendors, and Expo features like StagePass (guaranteed attendance to some of the popular presentations) and StorePass (priority entrance to shopping venues).

After attending the Expo myself multiple times (and exhibited at last year with Team DisneyExaminer), I have to say it is something not worth missing and must be attended at least once. Tickets for the 2017 D23 Expo will begin later this year on July 14, 2016 on their official website.
