Disney gave Japan Ufufy because Tsum Tsums got too popular

Tsum Tsums are a worldwide product sensation. Ever since their release in Japan back in 2013, the soft plushes have taken the form of many Disney characters (and sizes). Their cute factor has been universally felt and that feeling has lead to over nearly 6 million units worldwide!

But Tsum Tsums were Japan’s exclusive product from the beginning and lots of people there very personal about it. Well, Disney has heard their sadness and has created something just for them.

According to the Disney Store Japan website, the product called Ufufy, are mini plushes similar to Tsum Tsums in that they are incredibly cute and small. As the story goes, the Ufufy were “born from the clouds”and feel “light and fluffy and have shapes like animals, similar to clouds”.

Just like when Tsums Tsums were first released, there are only a limited number of Disney character Ufufy available for the initial release, including Mickey Mouse, Dumbo, and Stitch.

If you’re sold and are looking to get your hands on all of them, you’ll have to travel to Japan to get them! They are currently available at Disney Store Japan (in-store and online) for 756 yen, which is a little over $7 USD.

Disney Store has yet to disclose if the Ufufy will be made available outside of Japan, but it they are, they are sure to give Tsum Tsums a run for their money!
