Disney is already changing Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! for Halloween
Disneyland Resort finally let fans know of the changes that are coming to one of its most popular attractions…after only being open for three months.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, the re-imagined version of the highly popular Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure (DCA) Park, will be getting a Halloween overlay. Beginning the evening of September 15 and every evening until October 31, guests will experience an “extended version” of the attraction with a new mission: to save Groot.
According to the official announcement…
Your adventure picks up moments after the events of the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction. The Guardians have successfully escaped The Collector’s Fortress, but they have accidentally left Groot behind! Rocket enlists you to distract the creatures that have been released so he can find and rescue his little buddy. While The Collector’s ever-resourceful assistant, Apheta, may try to assure you that it is all just a momentary setback, we advise you to proceed with caution.
Few details on the experience being created by Walt Disney Imagineering were shared, apart from the title of it, Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark and that new music was created for it by the “Guardians” film composer Tyler Bates. However, there is precedent because this isn’t the first time that Halloween has taken over the tower at DCA. Before the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror closed its doors for good, Disney invited guests to take part in “Late Check Out,” where the attraction could be experienced with no sound effects or lights.
We have a feeling that the new “Save Groot” experience will be similar to the “Late Check Out” experience, so expect higher thrills with unexpected twists; all the things you need to make your Halloween more scary. After all, this is part of the new Halloween Time experiences coming for the first time to DCA this year!
