Pirates of the Caribbean 5 begins production in Australia
The fifth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” film franchise with Captain Jack Sparrow has begun production in Queensland, Australia.
As previously announced, Johnny Depp will return to reprise his role at Captain Jack,as well as actors Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa, Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs and Stephen Graham as Scrum.
New cast members include Oscar winner Javier Bardem who’ll play the main antagonist Captain Salazar and rising star Brenton Thwaites (“Maleficent,” “The Giver”).
The production announcement also included an updated synopsis on the film, which we’ve included below:
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.”
Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and is slated for release on July 7, 2017.
