Matterhorn Melodies & Rainbow Ridge Restorations

There will always be something new happening at Disneyland due in part to this year’s marketing campaign called Limited Time Magic! It continues this week as our friends at the Disneyland Resort are proud to announce more magical offerings for guests!

First off, the famous Matterhorn Alpine Climbers from Disneyland’s past are back for a limited time to bring music to the Matterhorn bobsleders and folks in Fantasyland.

In addition to the climbers, from July 8-14, Happy Hans and his son Erik will be playing their alpine melodies along the icy peaks of Matterhorn Mountain.

UPDATE 7/10 – In case you can’t make it down to the Resort, here’s a short clip of Happy Hans and Son at work.

While you listen to their “cool” tunes, be sure to pick up the equally famous Matterhorn Macaroon available at the nearby Edelweiss Snack shop near the base of the mountain for a cheap $1.99!

On “top” of all that mountain news, we have more news on another mountain. Big Thunder Mountain, that is!

With Big Thunder Mountain Railroad still being refurbished, we’ve all been wondering what’s behind those giant wooden walls and today we have that as well as an update on the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness”!

Disneyland Chief Photographer Paul Hiffmeyer was given the opportunity to take photos of the attraction’s progress including the Rainbow Ridge Mining Town restoration as seen in the shot above. New track has been laid and rock work in and around the mountain is getting fresh paint. Although Disney hasn’t officially announced a reopening date, our sources are saying the attraction will most likely open up in mid to late October.
