Instant Photo-fication.

We’ve all been there.

We took the greatest picture on Space Mountain and you want to keep that memory, but not pay that relatively expensive price for a physical photo that’ll probably collect dust after you take a picture of it on your iPhone so you can share it on Instagram.

Obviously, this is a problem that all Disney Parks guests experience today and fortunately for us, it seems like there’s a solution coming.

Just recently, Disneyland Park played host to a test that allowed guests who experienced California Screamin’ at Disney California Adventure Park and Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park had the opportunity to purchase their on-ride photos and have them sent directly to their mobile device. Guests could either to it themselves by texting a specific number or with help by meeting a nearby cast member. Costs for the photo service during the test ranged from $4.99 to being entirely free.

Although the first testing phase is completed, we expect that more tests of the service at different price points and options will emerge in the near future. Consequently, permanent rollout as part of Disney’s existing PhotoPass service will occur only if the testing satisfies guest’s needs.

We’re happy that Disney is thinking about how times are changing and ways to keep up with it all. Digital technology and social media are at the forefront of that change and the opportunity for people to get something like photos of their favorite memories at a place that makes those memories happen is just another way that Disney is upping the guest experience to new, modern level.
