Disneyland’s new mobile FastPass service will cost $10 a day

The Disneyland Resort in California is already getting ready for a whirlwind of change with the new year. One of those changes will finally make a rumor true – the ability to bring the popular service of reserving FastPasses online.

It’s a popular feature that’s part of Disney’s My Magic+ service at Walt Disney World, giving guests the ability to plan their vacation including meals, show tickets, and FastPasses all from their online-connected mobile device. To be clear, only the ability to reserve FastPasses feature will make its way to the California parks.

The feature will come at a cost to those who decide to use it. While it’s included as part of your ticket purchase for Walt Disney World, guests at Disneyland including Annual Passholders must pay an “introductory price” of $10 per person per day.

Passholders will have the opportunity to buy the so calledMaxPass, which will also includes unlimited downloads of PhotoPass photos, on a daily and yearly basis. Since the price is also introductory, it could raise or lower depending on how many people initially use the service.

Use cases seem to be a particular determinant on whether or not guests will spend the money.

@DisneyExaminer My answer (as an AP)- yes on days when I'm bringing a non-AP group around or super busy days, no on a normal visit

At the same time, other guests online are concerned that with the added mobile ability, it will make things “unfair” by allowing people to scoop up a lot of FastPasses without being present inhibiting the access to those who are at the park.

Details on how Disneyland will address this are still unclear. They announced two new attractions at both parks, the Matterhorn Bobsleds and Toy Story Midway Mania!, will get FastPass added to them perhaps spreading out the interest for attractions a little more evenly.

The Disney MaxPass will be folded under a newer version of the Disneyland app sometime later this year. Until then, will you be using MaxPass when it debuts? Let us know in our Twitter poll below HERE!
