Doctor Who joins Disney XD

Science fiction and children’s programming join forces as Disney prepares to air seasons of Doctor Who on Disney XD. So far, the episodes that have been picked up will be those about the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant.

The first episode “New Earth” will be featured after the premiere of Disney XD’s Fantastic Four on Saturday, May 9th. Eight more episodes will then be released daily in a weeklong event from June 13 to June 20.

Doctor Who tells the story of the mysterious, time travelling Doctor and his companions as they adventure through space and time in a machine called the TARDIS. With the original seasons airing in the 1960’s, it will be interesting to see how Disney’s younger audiences will receive the show. The BBC program continues to maintain its popularity, and its release on Disney XD will make it even more accessible to children and parents alike.
