World Premiere of “Hipster Mickey: Castle Coffee Break” [DisneyExaminer EXCLUSIVE]

Disney is in the business of telling stories and whether that be through attractions and shows or even t-shirts and giclees, the storytelling is the means on which the Disney magic comes forth. If you remember our Feature Story on the WonderGround Gallery a few months ago, you’d remember that merchandising at Disney Parks is indeed a part of that storytelling instead this time, you’re having some of the most creative artists doing the storytelling in their own way. One of those artists is our good friend Jerrod Maruyama.

Jerrod is the artist who decided to tell the untold story of Mickey Mouse if he ever decided to take on the hipster life. His series of “Hipster Mickey” art that first debuted at the WonderGround Gallery at Downtown Disney in Southern California in 2012 has been a hit with hipsters, Disney enthusiasts, and art lovers alike because, as Jerrod put it, “…they’re able to connect with Mickey in their own way.”

Those connections have made his Hipster Mickey art viral around the Disney world and beyond, so we’re so glad that Jerrod decided to choose us as a means of continuing the story with the world premiere of his newest piece in the series!

Introducing “Castle Coffee Break”.

We’re happy to see that Mrs. Mouse herself has made it into the series. Both of course are as hipster as can be with new clothing, phones, and drinks.

As with all his Disney art, Jerrod will be back at the WonderGround Gallery on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2 both days from 2 – 5 PM for signings of his new which will be publicly available the same day.

The art will appear on limited edition canvas giclee, deluxe prints, and other merchandise. Jerrod and us hope to see you as Hipster Mickey (and perhaps even Minnie now) continues to take on the world, one story and one heart at a time.
