Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg doesn’t want to be Disney’s next CEO

“I don’t want to run for office. I don’t want another job. I love Facebook.”

That’s what Facebook’s current chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg told a crowd during a conference yesterday in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The question was posed to her as many in the world got word that she was being considered to be Disney’s next CEO.

Sandberg’s extensive education at Harvard, as well as her creative and strategic business insights, have made her a value asset to the social media company and other tech companies like Google before it. Any company would love to have her experience and expertise, but beyond her capabilities, she’s looking for much more than just a challenge in her career, but culture.

“We have an incredible team — an incredibly close team, we’re all really good friends, and the product has a way of changing us as well. So I get to work with my closest friends … on something I really believe in,” she said at the conference.

While Sandberg’s aspirations for leading Disney are now clear, that doesn’t means she’s discounting Disney in any way. She sits on Disney’s board of directors and will be partly responsible in helping find Disney’s next chief executive. After discounting its own COO for the position this past May and with a little less than two years to go before Disney’s current CEO Bob Iger’s contract expires, the world is still waiting to see who’ll lead Walt’s company next.
