For the Love of Animation. – 2014 Annie Awards Wrap-Up
Last year was certainly the year for animation and that’s solidified as we enter awards season this year. This past Saturday evening, we had the opportunity to take part in one of those award shows of the season called the Annie Awards. It’s pretty much the Academy Awards for the animation industry and highly regarded in the animation world.
Hundreds of animators from Disney as well as other animation studios came together to see if their projects would be recognized and indeed many were recognized and given the golden Zoetrope trophy that night making it a night of Disney “Annie-mation domination”. Across all the animation divisions at Disney, you’d be happy to know that they took home over half of the awards including Best Animated Feature for “Frozen”.
Sure, Disney was celebrating big time during the party after the show (which they sponsored), but so were all the other people from the different studios as well. In today’s award’s culture, the environment can showcase cynicism at its finest, but that wasn’t the case here. Why?
