From “Cars” To “Planes”
We’re continuing to look forward at all the new films that will be coming from The Walt Disney Studios this year and beyond.
One film that recently caught our eye was a new film called Disney’s “Planes.” As the title would suggest, the film is a spinoff from the Disney*Pixar “Cars” franchise. As you’ll also be able to tell from the second trailer of the move we’ve included above, the animation look and feel is very similar to that of all the Pixar movies with its realness.
Interestingly enough, “Planes” will not be created by Pixar but by another Disney division called DisneyToon Studios, a division of the greater Walt Disney Animation Studios that has created films like “Aladdin.”
Nevertheless, John Lasetter will be one of the producers, so we’re expecting a another great, story-filled film! Here’s what he had to say about it so far –
We had such a great time exploring the world of Cars over the course of two films, so it seemed only natural for us to see where our imaginations would take us in a film where planes were the main characters. By expanding the Cars world, Planes gave us a whole new set of fun-filled situations and a great opportunity to introduce some fantastic new characters. The team at DisneyToon Studios has done such an amazing job creating a heartfelt story filled with great comedy, adventure, and emotion. I know audiences are going to love taking off into the wild blue yonder with these daredevil characters, as they experience a whole new kind of animated adventure.
The main protagonist in the film named Dusty will be voiced by Dane Cook (since the originally cast Jon Cryer dropped out).
We’ve included the full cast of characters and voice list on our Facebook Page, so get to know those characters now!
Although it was destined to be a direct-to-DVD movie, Disney has decided to release it in theaters on August 9, 2013!
