Here are the new highly advanced Audio-Animatronic figures that are going to fill Galaxy’s Edge

There is going to be lots of advanced technology powering Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. One of the major pieces of tech that Disney doesn’t hope you see as tech are the trademark Audio-Animatronic figures that will populate the land.

In a report by Popular Mechanics, Disney gave their reporters access to a secret warehouse in Glendale, CA where Walt Disney Imagineers are creating the characters that will fill Black Spire Outpost.

Imagineers have given this version of the 55-year-old robotic tech the series name: A1000. The first Audio-Animatronic figures were named A1 figures and were the ones that Walt Disney oversaw and helped create for his first attractions at Disneyland park in Anaheim, CA.

60 years later, Imagineers are putting the finishing touches on their most complex and life-like figures. Check out a first look at one of the A1000 characters they’re creating for Galaxy’s Edge, as well as a great oral history on Audio-Animatronic technology, by reading their original report.
