Here is what our 2016 spring interns had to say about their experience at DisneyExaminer

Summer is almost here which means one thing, our spring internship program is over. It felt just like yesterday that we were greeting our interns for the first time and now they are part of our little family.  It was awesome having this many interns who were all in different roles from being a writer to an account manager because there has been so much going on with Disney and it would not have been possible to do everything without their help. As usual we have our interns share their thoughts about their time here with us so lets see what they have to say!

Arielle

Applying for DisneyExaminer and becoming a writing intern during the spring has been one of the best things that could have happened to me this year. When I first started, I initially felt shy about pitching story ideas because everybody was so talented and intelligent. Everybody on staff has been so wonderful, though. Their strong drive to create and share content about Disney has motivated me to try and do my best as well.

As the weeks passed, I found that all of the work as a writer was invigorating because it required me to challenge myself and to become better at managing my time. From attending the Oscars: Animated Features night to writing my first film review for Zootopia, I feel like I’ve been able to not only become a better writer, but also a more confident person.

The amazing staff at DisneyExaminer are like a small family doing the work that they love, and I am honored to be a part of it all. How could anybody not be drawn into their world? Thank you so much for everything, DisneyExaminer!

Being with #teamDisneyExaminer has shown me that a group of passionate people with a positive mindset can accomplish anything. Since the start of my internship in January I’ve had the opportunity to be part of what DisneyExaminer is all about: taking a closer look at the Walt Disney company. At first I was intimidated thinking how can I contribute to a team of Disney professionals who has done this for years? When really I shouldn’t have had anything to fear. Our team not only holds themselves professionally but they are also the most understanding and encouraging people I’ve ever known! As an Account Manager Intern I was able to take what I’ve learned as a Business major and implement that into DisneyExaminer. Whether it be contacting other businesses, setting up meetings and even networking I did everything I could knowing I had the support of my team and the power of DisneyExaminer.

To me the best part of being in #teamdisneyexaminer is the excitement we all share when Disney bonds us all together. Any time someone on our team is aware of anything Disney related we share that information with everyone in the group. With DisneyExaminer we get to share that excitement by creating content for others to enjoy everything Disney the way we do. Altogether I am grateful for all the opportunities I’ve been able to experience being part of DisneyExaminer. After our Monday meetings I always feel as though I am starting the week on a good foot and ready to take on the rest of the week! That is possible because of the awesome people on our team, our passion to create content and ultimately the positive attitude DisneyExaminer brings to all of us which inspires me to do better.

Working for DisneyExaminer over these past few months has been such a fun and exciting time for me. In my time working here I have really grown and improved in my photography as well as my videography skills, and have made some awesome little projects that I am really proud of. I have also made plenty of new friends with all of the members of the staff and have learned a lot from all of them about what it means to be a Disney fan. From the fun weekly meetings to the impromptu shooting days at Disneyland, from recording the DisneyExaminer podcast with the podcast gang to attending the red carpet premiere of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I would not trade these last few months for anything, and I cannot wait to see what exciting new directions DisneyExaminer takes in the future!

As I am writing this reflection, I can’t believe that my time as a DisneyExaminer intern has flown by so quickly. It feels like just yesterday I was nervously waiting for my interview and wondering if I would have the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful team. Finally that call came and it was time to go, I could not have been more excited! There is something so special about being on a team where everyone has the same passion as you and you get to share that with the world. I knew I wanted to be a part of this team since 2014 when I saw them at an event at my school and found out they were accepting interns, 2 years later and that became my reality. I was very ecstatic!

As the social media intern, I was plugged into all things DisneyExaminer and got to interact with all of our loyal fans. Doing this internship requires a lot of independence, but with that came a lot of freedom to try new things and really grasp the things our fans were looking for in the site. I got to start the DisneyExamineThis game and it was so fun! Honestly, I thought I was a Disney Aficionado, after starting this series it was amazing to me that no matter what I posted someone always got the correct answer to the puzzle in minutes or less.

The opportunities that the DisneyExaminer has to offer are endless! We cover the entire company and I appreciate all the things they do so much more. I loved being in the know and discovering things to come. Often times I was so excited and I could not wait until our stories made it out so the news was shared with the world and they could share in the joy and excitement with us. Just in my position alone, I have live- tweeted, gone to special events, written columns, and have been able to work on passion projects (that’s coming out tomorrow, be sure to check it out!).

Being surrounded by such talented individuals is such a rewarding experience. I am so thankful for this team for believing in me and allowing me to really grow into myself. They were always willing to help me with a story or support my up and coming ideas. I loved that we could all truly geek out over Disney and not be ashamed of it. This team has become a family to me and I am so excited to see where my journey goes with them. For now I’m going to keep being social so make sure to shout it out on our sites! Look for me in the fall where I will be moving to Walt Disney World for a while and get to report for the team on all the happenings out there. If you’re thinking of being a part of this team, please go for it! You will not regret it, I promise!
