Here’s all the “Beauty and the Beast” news you might’ve missed this week

This week was huge for Disney’s upcoming live action Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. It was almost as if every day, more Beauty and the Beast news was revealed, making us more excited than ever to see the final product.

Here’s a list of all the fun facts we’ve learned about the movie so far!

Belle will be an inventor in the film.

Entertainment Weekly reports that this new version of the movie tweaks Belle’s character, making her not only a reader, but a tinkerer too. Maurice also gets a deeper back story as well, as the movie directs his inventing skills towards one specific object: music boxes.

The movie will feature three new songs.

Entertainment Weekly also revealed that one song will be a duet between Belle and Maurice, another called “For Evermore” will be sung by the Beast, and the third song, called “Our Song Lives On,” will be sung throughout the film.

We already have a sneak peek at the lyrics of “Our Song Lives On.”

Revealed by Alan Menken during a special concert, a portion of this song is already enchanting audiences:

Love pays no mind to desolation

It flows like a river through the soul

Protects, endures, and perseveres

And makes us whole

Minutes turn to hours

But when all else has been forgotten

That’s how a moment lasts forever

When our song lives on

The movie will feature unused lyrics from the animated film.

Entertainment Weekly reveals that we’ll be able to hear Howard Ashman’s unheard lyrics in the song Gaston, as well as in another yet to be revealed number.

Ewan McGregor had a tough time with Lumière’s french accent.

If you were a little skeptical about Lumiere’s line in the first teaser trailer, don’t worry – according to his interview with Entertainment Weekly Ewan McGregor has been working on his accent and was even able to re-record his lines.

Cogsworth won’t get his own song, but Sir Ian McKellen fought hard to try to make it happen.

“I kept singing what I thought would be a rather good addition to the score,” McKellen told Entertainment Weekly. “‘My name is Cogsworth!/ And I’m a clock!/Ticktock!’ But I didn’t get my own song.”

All this news just gets us more and more excited for the actual film!
