Here’s proof that nearly everything in Disney’s 2016 “Jungle Book” was all digital

The most common comment that I’ve heard audiences make both on and offline after having seen Jon Favreau’s live-action version of Disney’s “The Jungle Book” has been about how visually stunning it is. No doubt, it is a visual masterpiece, but it’s equally a technical masterpiece as well.

Disney just shared the above featurette that goes behind-the-scenes of the making of the film, which was largely shot at a soundstage in Downtown Los Angeles. That soundstage, which wasn’t too larger than a normal warehouse, was covered in blue-colored material to allow animators and artists to create the jungle environment.

As was touted by Favreau during the film’s press tour, the only other living thing in the entire film was Neel Sethi acting as Mowgli. As you’ll also see in the video, he had to act with puppets and even play make-believe for many scenes.

Hopefully his performance and the amazing art that was created will allow you to appreciate the efforts that were made and validate the purpose in re-creating one of the most beloved Disney animated films.
