Here’s what it was like to be an summer intern at DisneyExaminer.

DisneyExaminer has always been a melting pot of great people with great passions in life and that is no exception for this past summers batch of interns Chloe Uyehara, Kacie Chow, Sedonah Najera, and Trevor Perez. Through the three months they were with us each intern was able to take on the main tasks of creating content whether it be through editorial or videography as well as help plan and execute our booth at the D23 Expo. It was a daunting challenge but they embraced it and helped craft what felt like one of DisneyExaminer’s greatest accomplishments.

At the end of every internship, we want to give our interns a chance to say what they felt about their time with us. As you read what they had to say below, it wasn’t just an internship for them but a life-changing , magical experience.

Chloe Uyehara

My time as an intern with DisneyExaminer was great and I had a really good time. The people were nice and fun to work with. I was a little intimidated at first because everyone seemed like a tight knit family and I was the new kid trying to fit in. However, they were all very welcoming.

I still remember the first story I wrote on the Diamond Celebration truffles. I was really nervous because I hadn’t done any writing in a long time, but editors were great and their feedback was extremely helpful. I’m really glad I found this internship and that I got to be a part of this awesome team that loves Disney as much as I do.

Sedonah Najera

Being part of the DisneyExaminer team this past summer was an incredible experience. I got to write about The Walt Disney Company, make new friends and create some amazing memories. I remember how nervous I was attending my first meeting. Everyone was friendly and welcoming but I felt so intimidated because it was my first internship. But with the love and support from everyone, I finally came out of my shell.

When I was assigned my first story, I was so determined to do a good job that I wrote it all within two days (thanks to my nerves and excitement). Just seeing my first story being published was magical. A month later, we were informed that we were having a booth at the D23 Expo. I was already excited to be attending for my first time ever but to be part of the expo itself was unbelievable!

Besides all of the great memories, I gained a lot of knowledge and experience as a writer. Everything has been a great experience both professionally and personally. It’s been an honor working with a great team who shared the same passion for Disney. Thank you to everyone who has been a tremendous help and made me feel part of the family! I’m forever grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and excited to see how DisneyExaminer continues to grow.

Trevor Perez

My time at DisneyExaminer as an intern has been awesome. I’ve met a lot of new people and I’ve also made some great new friendships along the way. I have also gained some great knowledge from this experience as well as the feeling that the possibilities are endless. My favorite part of this experience was being able to do what I love alongside some great, hardworking people. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. It is a job that I truly enjoy.

Though I was already interning at another company when I applied for DE, I am very glad that I did and was accepted as part of the team. I was given the opportunity to grow my skills as well as participate in some awesome experiences.

My favorite part of being with DisneyExaminer was definitely working at DE’s D23 Expo booth. Having attended every previous D23 Expo since the beginning, it was fun actually working on the exhibitor floor and attending panels as press.

With this, I am also grateful to DE for allowing me to extend my internship position in HR by entrusting me to secure some sponsors/donations for the DE Expo booth sweepstakes. It gave me the opportunity to do something I didn’t have any previous experience with; I got to initiate and facilitate business deals with SMS Audio, Reyn Spooner, Disney Theatrical, and other Disney talent. It was an honor to be a part of DisneyExaminer, and the people weren’t so bad either. Apply!
