How Our Parents #DisneyDate-d
Old memories will be forever cherished when they come as a result of a magical time and place. It’s always fun to dig through old memories, especially when they’re your parents’ old memories. It wouldn’t surprise you then that many things that our parent’s experienced are still around today, including Disneyland.
I dug up my parents’ old Disneyland annual passes from twenty years ago and couldn’t help but think that they had their dates there. It very much is something that has been passed down from generation to generation as many young couples now visit the Southern California theme parks for their dates. It’s funny to think that Disney dates go way back to before our parents even became parents!
To prove it, we had some of our staff’s parents share their magical experiences when they decided to go to Disneyland for their night(s) out. Here’s what they said!
One of our very own’s parents at the entrance in Disneyland #throwback
“Our first date to Disneyland was in 1982. I wasn’t allowed to date my now husband, Dan until I was 21 years old and it was the first time we went to Disneyland as a couple, two years after we met! The wait was well worth the two-year wait as the entire day was truly “magical” and was the “happiest place on earth” for the both of us! Thirty-two years and a 22-year old son (Jordie) later, it’s still the happiest place to date!” – Melody P.
“I had always wanted to go to Disneyland which is noted for its claim of being the “Happiest place on earth”. The day finally came when I could go and what would be sweeter than to go there with my one and only boyfriend? Indeed, Disneyland lived up to its name. I enjoyed the rides, loved the shops and most especially the shows. One can tell that they happen only in Disneyland. I felt like I didn’t want the experience to end. But as all stories go, it had to come to one. But only to begin again where this time my next several visits would be with my ex-boyfriend – now my husband and our children! Seeing them having fun and me feeling like I’m young again is truly an unforgettable experience. No contest, Disneyland is the “Happiest Place on Earth.” – Maribel O.
My mom and dad got their first annual passes together once they were married as it was appropriate to do so. “I was so excited to go to Disneyland with your dad and he surprised me with an annual pass. We made great memories and they only continue to grow! We love it there.” – Zeenat J.
So, are we becoming our parents? Strolling through Main Street U.S.A. hand-in-hand with our significant other, taking the signature picture in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, buying matching Mickey/Minnie ears, and staying until the very end to close out the night with a “goodnight kiss” fireworks show?
Disneyland (and any Disney Park) was, is, and always will be the perfect place for a dreamy date. There’s no doubt about it!
