How to register to volunteer for runDisney (and score a free Disneyland ticket!)
Ever feel like combining a love for Disney, sports and volunteering all in one event? Well you can by volunteering at the Disneyland Half Marathon! By volunteering specific shifts you are also are given a one day Disney Theme Park ticket so really its a win-win. As a first-time volunteer here is what you need to know to register & get ready for your volunteer day!
1. Know when marathons are scheduled:
The next three Marathon Weekends are:
RunDisney looks for volunteers across the span of Thursday-Sunday.
2. To earn your one-day Disneyland ticket you must:
Volunteer 2 full shifts Thursday-Saturday (Thursday+Friday or Friday+Saturday or Thursday+Saturday).
OR
Volunteer one full shift Sunday.
When choosing Thursday/Friday shifts keep in mind school & work that can interfere with Volunteering. Sunday, however, is the most popular shift!
3. Know when volunteer registration opens:
Set an alarm 10 minutes before registration time to be online when its time!
Be sure to use a reliable e-mail account when registering.
4. Plan to volunteer with friends!
Coordinating to volunteer with a small group of friends is definitely possible, but remember that there is still that chance your shift times could be different.
However, if you can organize a group of 50 people to ALL be able to volunteer ONE entire volunteer shift, all your friends can be together and contribute time to a good cause!
5. After registration:
Write down all the shifts you signed up for – while registering it’s easy to submit the application quickly and forget what days you have chosen.
Confirmation will arrive in your e-mail and detailed information will arrive 2 weeks before race weekend.
6. Can’t make your shift?
As volunteer registration happens months before the race, it is understandable if you can’t make your assigned shift.
Email the runDisney team early; it takes 3-5 business days for a response letting them know you can’t make it.
If you’re concerned about whether or not someone can cover your shift, don’t worry! They also have a wait list so other people get the opportunity to volunteer.
7. Volunteer day!
For your time and service you’ll earn free parking, a free t-shirt, a free snack box & 60 days after the event a free one-day Disney Theme Park ticket! Make sure to print your registration packet in color & follow security guidelines listed in the email.
You are dedicating time to help a designated charity and at the same time emerged in Disney magic! Enjoy meeting other Disney runners/volunteers while giving back to the community. Hope this guide helped you register and have fun volunteering!
