In celebration of #EarthDay and Shanghai Disney Resort, watch the trailer for Disneynature’s next film

Today is Earth Day and while many people are looking to go exploring and protecting the actual Earth today, Disney wants you to do both. Next year.

The Walt Disney Studios debuts its first trailer for its next Disneynature film called “Born In China”. Like all the other films in under the studio brand, this film will follow animals in the wild who will tell a narrative story with a narrator. Filmmakers decided to tell the story of three animal families: pandas, golden monkeys, and snow leopards.

At each of the stories’ cores, family reigns supreme.

The panda bears’ story will share that of a mother as she guides her growing baby in gaining independence. The golden monkeys’ story will showcase the ability for a baby to get accustomed to her “adopted” siblings. The snow leopards’ story will be similar to the panda bears’ story with sharing the hardships of raining her cubs in a harsh environment.

The trailer will also show the stunning landscapes of China where these animals live. According to producer Roy Conli (Disney’s Tangled, Big Hero 6), nature films are always difficult to make because of the limited access there is to capture these animals in the wild in their storytelling moments.

Nevertheless it was captured through many years and now, we’ll get to see those stories lived out through these beautiful landscapes and animals. Next year.

Even so, publicity for the China-focused film will also get help from Disney’s other related presence in the country, Shanghai Disney Resort, which would have been open for nearly a year.

Directed by Chinese filmmaker Lu Chuan, “Born In China” hits theaters next year on Earth Day, April 22, 2017.
