Introducing Ghost Post, a Haunted Mansion subscription box service with a secret game inside

As much as Disney loves fantasy and dreams, it also loves being able to put together great mysteries. And I’m not alluding to the ones in movies. I’m alluding to one mystery in particular: The Optimist.

The 2013 was later found to be an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) created by Walt Disney Imagineering that took smart and cunning people through a mysterious story that connected Walt Disney back to a secret society of futurists. Participants had to trace clues both online and off to solve the mystery, which turned out to be a connecting strand to the 2015 Disney film “Tomorrowland”.

After such an enthusiastic response to The Optimist, it appears as if another mystery and ARG is about begin! This time, it’ll be centered around The Haunted Mansion.

Just yesterday, Disney launched a website called the Ghost Relations Department, an organization that “worked tirelessly to bring you the finest in trans-spectral experiences.” After a quick introduction, the site is basically a landing page for people to subscribe to the “Ghost Post”.

The Ghost Post is actually a $199 subscription service where you receive three boxes filled with “unique – possibly haunted – artifacts, each one a key to unlocking secret and special powers. And each box unfolds a chapter in a new Haunted Mansion adventure.” Unlike most subscription box services today, the items in the Ghost Post boxes contain things you can’t use in your everyday life. Instead, those items will connect to provide you clues.

According to insiders, those clues will lead you to the Haunted Mansion and other places both near and potentially far to discover some haunting secrets. It’s basically another iteration of The Optimist ARG as the lead Imagineer who lead that game has designed and now leads this one.

If you’ve ever taken part in an ARG before, you’ll know how thrilling and addicting it will be to follow along and discover these amazing stories. Combining that feeling yet again with a Disney twist and you have something rather magical that no attraction or show at Disney Parks alone could ever replicate.
