Introducing our Disney Fashion Series + Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

DisneyExaminer is now here to help you with your fashion woes.

We are starting a new column based on outfits that will help you personify your love of Disney through fashion.

My name is Rachel, and I will be one of your helpful guides through this Disney fashion journey! I will be looking at all things Disney to pull inspiration from. Let’s face it… a lot of us LOVE Disney, but would not want to wear a full-blown Cinderella ball gown outside of the Disneyland parks to prove how much we do especially if we’re in our respective school/work/everyday settings (or maybe you do, and that’s fine too)!

This column is merely to give you some tips as to how to go about in Disney-fying that outfit of yours. One main rule: Express yourself. You may be inspired from one place to start your outfit, but it’s your own flair in accessorizing and executing the outfit that will make it uniquely you.

As we all know, Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching. You may be in search for that perfect dinner place, the perfect date or friends to share the day with, and especially that perfect outfit that you will feel completely confident in! Here are a couple Disney inspired looks to help kick-start your ideas for the perfect Valentine’s Day outfit.

Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Since Aurora is wearing all solid shades of pink, I decided to do some subtle colorblocking for my outfit. Colorblocking is essentially a trend that requires you to wear several solid colors to make one cohesive outfit. I personally chose different colored shades of pink in order to compliment my skin tone, and picked certain clothing styles that flattered my body type. Here are the elements of my Aurora inspired outfit:

valentines-3
  • coral colored A-line jersey skirt

  • blush pink loosely fitted cropped top with a surplice neckline and butterfly laced sleeves.

  • solid gold colored ankle strap heels

  • gold bangle bracelets

Feel free to mix things up! You can switch the loose crop top with a plain pink fitted tee tucked in. In doing this, it would accentuate your curves more and highlight your waistline. You also have the choice of switching out the bottom if skirts aren’t your thing. There are many choices that could make this outfit fit you.

I put these particular pieces together because it is comfy, feminine, and because the pink makes it Valentine’s Day ready.

Minnie Mouse

To pull off this sweet Minnie outfit, I was inspired by both color and pattern. I wanted a look that was bit more casual and comfy, but fun and flirty. Here are the elements of my Minnie Mouse inspired outfit:

valentines-4
  • black t-shirt dress with small white polka dots

  • red graphic Minnie Mouse sweater

  • black ankle strapped shoes

  • yellow clutch bag
