Kingdom Hearts, Marvel, and Star Wars video games were revealed at the D23 Expo

Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media (DCPI) held a presentation inside the D23 Arena that focused on serving gamers with scoops on the latest news surrounding upcoming video games that feature the Company’s IP.

““It’s our mission to bring the magic of Disney into the daily lives of families and fans around the world and, when it comes to games, we’re working with the best developers in the world to create experiences that put fans at the center of the story,” said Jimmy Pitaro, chairman of DCPI. “Gamers and fans of our stories have never had more to look forward to—and our slate has never been stronger.”

Those brand stories included the following:

Kingdom Hearts will get a Toy Story world. Game director Tetsuya Nomura was present to announce the news to elated fans. The game will be released sometime in 2018.

Marvel is making its first VR game. In partnership with Oculus Studios, Marvel Powers United VR will be “a first-person, multiplayer, action virtual reality game where players team up with friends to engage in immersive, explosive cooperative fights from across the Marvel Universe.”

Marvel announced two new games. One is a Spider-Man game that tells the untold story of Peter Parker a few years after he gets his powers. The other game is a the sequel to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

There will be a Star Wars augmented reality experience. Through a custom headset designed by Lucasfilm and Lenovo, you’ll soon be able to play holochess and even take part in lightsaber battles using your AR-powered smartphone.

Star Wars Battlefront II will feature a single player campaign led by a female protagonist. It was a highly requested feature of the popular game. It will also be the first time that a Star Wars game has a female lead character named Iden who fights for the Empire.
