Lana Parrilla and Geena Davis will narrate this year’s Candlelight Ceremony at Disneyland
One of my favorite Christmas traditions is going to Disneyland to experience the Candlelight Processional and Ceremony. The event is a retelling of the Christmas story aka the birth of Christ with Scripture readings, a 200+ choir, and a full orchestra. Disney also invites either a celebrity or public figure to be the narrator for the 45-minute program.
Although Disney has yet to officially announce this year’s narrator, we can confirm that actresses Lana Parrilla and Geena Davis will hold the honors at Disneyland. Davis, from Stuart Little, will narrate on Saturday, 12/5. Parrilla, best known for her role as the Evil Queen on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”, will narrate on Sunday, 12/6.
They will both narrate two presentations of Candlelight on both evenings, one at 5:30 PM and another at 8:30 PM.
Beyond the narrators, I highly encourage any Disneyland-goer and vacationing visitor to attend at least one of the presentations taking place on the steps of the Main Street U.S.A. train station.
Candlelight has been a tradition since Walt Disney first started it back in 1958 as a thank-you event for Disneyland’s community partners. Today, it’s still that and a beautiful reminder of what this holiday season is all about.
